		<abstract>Cattle raising in Brazil has a big significance worldwide, however, even presenting high production, this activity is characterized by low intensification. The performance of pastures is greatly influenced by traits in fertilization, specially of nitrogen. The use of remote sensing techniques is a potential tool for monitoring the condition of grassland, and consequently helping to improve its quality. The objective of this work is to evaluate the use of leaves reflectance measurements in laboratory condition to predict doses of nitrogen fertilization for Panicum maximum cv. mombaça pasture. The experiment was made in randomized block design experiment with 4 treatments (N levels: 0, 50, 100 and 150 kg/ha) and four replications was installed at the ESALQ/USP campus, located in the municipality of Piracicaba, São Paulo state, Brazil. The FieldSpec3 spectroradiometer was used to evaluate the leaf spectral response. Visual analysis over the obtained spectra showed differences at the red and NIR regions in function of the nitrogen levels. Besides that, the spectral data of the leaves was compared with nitrogen doses by discriminant analysis, in order to analyze if the different nutrient levels could be differentiated from each other. Therefore, the research indicates that the hyperspectral data was able to distinguish different levels of nitrogen on Panicum maximum cv. mombaça pasture by discriminant analysis.</abstract>
